Nerf War Birthday

Adam knew exactly what he wanted for his birthday...A Nerf War party!  I2 boys for 4 hours was INSANITY for me & Mark...but so much fun for the boys.  The weather was CRAZY beautiful.  It is usually snowing every year for Adam's birthday and we would have never been able to have a party outside like this.  But it was in the high 60's, sunny and perfect for a outside party this year.
A blurry picture of the invitation.
I collected FREE pallets and then Mark secured them together to make barricades and we scattered them all over the yard for hiding out during the war.
I made the targets out of pizza pans from the dollar store painted with cheap craft paint.

I really didn't know what to do for a Nerf cake.  I am not talented enough to make a cake in the shape of a Nerf gun and I was surprised that I could not find any grocery stores that make Nerf cakes.  Bummer!  So went with the simple round cake with a target theme.
I used another dollar store pizza pan for the cake plate and glued it to a orange candlestick.  I just printed out the Nerf logo for the cake topper.

Gift bags - I went back to the dollar store, where I got the aluminum water bottle and put each boys name and target design on with vinyl (I love my silhouette)
I also found some small "fake nerf" guns at the dollar store to add to the goody bags.

Adam racked up on guns so Mark hung this peg board in the garage so we can have a place to organize and store them.  I LOVE it!
Happy Birthday Adam - It was a FUN one!

Christmas Baking

The boys have been out of school all week so Adam wrote a schedule for the week with a different Christmas activity for each day.  Yesterday was cookie baking and gingerbread house making day.

I assembled the basic parts of the gingerbread house, but then I stepped back and let the boys do the rest all by themselves.
Colton was very helpful with eating half the candy and dropping the rest on the floor.  I am surprised there was anything left to decorate with.

Please ignore the cans of beans holding up the roof...

Please also ignore the fact that Colton was still in his PJ's...

When this beauty was finished, we got dressed for the day and moved on to making Candy Cane Cookies.  Colton loved rolling the dough.

I spent the rest of the day cleaning all the messes and I am still finding little candies all over the floor, but it was s fun day full of good memories.  The boys were so proud of their gingerbread house and I have caught Colton trying to eat it several times already.  Not sure it will make it through Christmas.

Super Fun Weekend

Bentley has a birthday coming up next week and instead of a party he told Noel he wanted to take Adam to Great Wolf Lodge…which meant I got invited too!  Hollar!  THANK YOU Bentley!

School Pictures

We got Colton’s school pictures yesterday.  They turned out so cute…and so funny.  I have no idea how they got him to hold still and look at the camera…but I would love to know their tricks! So, Colton was having some allergy issues the week of school pictures and I gave him a little dose of Benadryl before sending him to school this particular day…you will notice his heavy eyes.11-4-2011 7;56;34 AM

This studious pose with the books made me laugh.  Eye’s are getting heavy.11-4-2011 7;58;59 AM

And the best one…(I distorted the other kids faces because I was not sure if it was appropriate to post it. But check out Colton in the bottom left corner)

You can tell the meds were kicking in when class pictures started.  He looks completely out of it.  Ha!

And then there is this classic school picture…11-4-2011 8;53;04 AM

Bless his heart.  He wants longer hair so bad, but no matter how we cut it , comb it or how much gel we use, it all just falls straight forward into a bowl cut. It grew to this length and then it just stopped…seriously!  It stayed this length for a few months and would not grow past this stage.  His hair was CUT OFF shortly after he brought this picture home.  Much better now.

Adam’s Baseball Room

Adam’s room is finally finished.  This room was done on a serious BUDGET!  I set an amount for the room and I hunted and scoured yard sales and Good Will for some deals.  Everything in this room, including furniture and decorations came in under $300!  I would still love to get a new quilt like THIS, but that will have to wait…so just use your imagination.IMG_4817

Feeling Like Fall

Saturday was the PERFECT Fall day!  I met up with my mom, Uncle Tommy, Aunt Carrie, Liz & Gracie…out in the COUNTRY… for some free pinto beans and cornbread at Old Mill Primitives!  Oh, it was so fun and YUMMY!  We were on the hunt for some more Chalk Paint and old blue Mason Jars so I can make some of THESE.  I didn’t find any jars! Boo.  But we did all walk away with some Chalk Paint.Picnik collage1

Then the ENTIRE Brewer clan met up at Layman’s Farm for more Fall festivities. Fried Oreos, pumpkins, cow train rides, apples and CHAOS!  picnik 2

Brother Love

This is the welcome Adam gets EVERY DAY when he gets off the bus.  Sorry, there is no audio, but just imagine Colton yelling “Bubba…Bubba…Ohhhh Bubba”

First Day In The Fourth Grade

I am a little late in posting…but YESTERDAY was Adam’s first day of school.  P1080725

I was more sad and nervous yesterday than I was for the first day of kindergarten.  Adam was starting a new school where he does not know any other kids and I was so nervous for him.  I was praying all day for him and that he would have a good experience.P1080726

I was so relieved when he came out of the school with a smile on his face and said he had a great day…and made 3 new friends!!!  He also told me that he was the smallest in his class (at registration I noticed that most of the boys were double his size!!!  Seriously double…they looked like they should be in 9th grade and that made me so nervous because Adam is still such a little boy.  WHAT are these parents feeding their children???  I think a lot of kids hit a major growth spurt over the summer) Anyway, Adam said “There is only one person smaller than me in the 4th grade and she is a girl.  I guess she is my only competition”.  I laughed so hard.

First Day On Vaca

We are having a great time in Myrtle Beach.  We originally thought the weather was going to be bad while we were here because of predictions for Hurricane Emily…but it was perfectly sunny and hot today and they say it will be the same tomorrow.  Yippppeee!
