First Day In The Second Grade

Today was the first day of school for Adam! As I was typing the title for this post I had to stop and remind myself that Adam really is in the second grade this year! It just doesn't seem possible that he is old enough for the second grade. Where has the time gone? He picked his entire outfit (not my personal first choice, but I didnt fight it) and also insisted on getting a messenger style book bag this year. He must have seen one somewhere and thought it was cool?

Adam was worried about leaving Colton all day. I guess he doesn't have much confidence in me being alone with his baby brother.
Colton was obviously excited about the big first day of school. He slept through the whole goodbye.
I had a gift for Adams teacher and it was all wrapped up in a pretty bag. When I told Adam he needed to carry it in to his teacher he got all upset. He literally got teary eyed and told me it was "really embarrassing" to carry the gift through the school hallway. I felt so bad for him. I had these visions of the school bully picking on him and beating him up because he was carrying a pink gift bag in the hallways. So, I parked the car...got Colton out of his car seat...and walked the gift to the teacher myself. I think this was equally embarrassing for Adam and he was probably wishing he would have just carried the bag himself. This also gave me the opportunity to embarrass Adam even more by getting his picture with his new teacher.

After we left Adam's school, we headed over to LU. Today was the first day of classes and my Dad was the guest speaker for the first convo of the school year along with Children of the World!

Colton and Prava during the concert. It is funny how every little noise at home will wake Colton up, but he slept like a baby through the LOUD music at the concert.

Just kidding people! Actually, he has been rolling over since he was 2 weeks. I am serious, he really has. I have tried to get it on video several times but I always miss it. It is crazy to watch because he looks so little to be doing it. I am going to keep trying to get it on video because I know you all think I am lying. He also started smiling this weekend. I tried to get it on camera, but this is all that turned out because I was trying to get him to smile and then take the picture too...and...well...I cant do 2 things at once.

Some of you might remember this post from when I went to India & Nepal to pick up some children for the Children of the World Choir (where I work). It was so fun being with these kids as they experienced so many new and exciting things in those first few days. Now they have been touring in the US for almost 7 months. They came back in town for a few days for some concerts at Liberty University, so Suresh & Deepesh got to stay with us. These boys sure have changed over the past few months. I laughed so hard when I heard them keep using the word "Awesome" to describe so many things. They pick up those American words so fast! Adam loved having them around and I am sure he is not going to be happy tomorrow when they have to leave.

We went to Chick fil A tonight because they were hosting a fund raiser for Children of the World and the Home of Hope project ...gotta love Chick fil A! The boys were especially excited to see the Chick fil A cow walking around and giving hugs. Some of the little girls from Uganda were saying that "the cows in Uganda dont walk on 2 feet." They must be so confused with the crazy things we do in America.

Suresh, Adam & Deepesh ready for bed. Adam had to find a sleeveless shirt to wear to bed so he could be just like the boys. He gets so excited to sleep in the bed with them each night, but then we find him in his own bed in the morning. He just cant hang. :)

Yes, I am in Uganda!

HELLO FROM UGANDA! That right, Uganda! You may be saying to yourself...wasnt she just in India? Well, I got back from India and 4 days later had to leave for Uganda. This was not a regularly planned trip and was sort of an emergency last minute thing. So please do not think I am the worst mom in the world. Dont judge me, I already feel guilty enough for having to leave Adam again so soon! Trust me, this is not how I normally travel and I would not have done it if it was not absoulutly necessary. Luckily, my wonderful husband is there to save the day and take care of Adam. He is a teacher and has most of the summer off, in case you are wondering how that works out. I am bringing back 15 ADORABLE children from Uganda for the Children of the World choir and we fly out tomorrow. Luckily I do not have to do all this by myself this time, I have Rachel Hampton with me and I am so thankful for her help!

OK, ignore me in this picture (I look like a man!). It had been a long day and I was hot and dirty. But could not resist taking this picture of the Ugandan man in a Chineese costume. We went to a Chineese restaraunt in Uganda, which does seem a little odd in itself. But it was so funny that all the waiters had these outfits on. I had Rachel take my picture with him and he was so happy. If he only knew I was using for my blog. Poor guy! Is this as funny as I think it is, or am I just really tired?

Hello from India

Check out the cuties I am bringing back from India. Actually they are from Nepal, but we met up in India yesterday and will fly back to the US tomorrow night. They have enjoyed lots of first at the hotel...swimming, hot shower, lots of TV. It is so fun to watch them experience all these new things! They are sitting and watching me as I post this and they are very interested in the computer and seeing their pictures on it. Too Cute!
