Nerf War Birthday

Adam knew exactly what he wanted for his birthday...A Nerf War party!  I2 boys for 4 hours was INSANITY for me & Mark...but so much fun for the boys.  The weather was CRAZY beautiful.  It is usually snowing every year for Adam's birthday and we would have never been able to have a party outside like this.  But it was in the high 60's, sunny and perfect for a outside party this year.
A blurry picture of the invitation.
I collected FREE pallets and then Mark secured them together to make barricades and we scattered them all over the yard for hiding out during the war.
I made the targets out of pizza pans from the dollar store painted with cheap craft paint.

I really didn't know what to do for a Nerf cake.  I am not talented enough to make a cake in the shape of a Nerf gun and I was surprised that I could not find any grocery stores that make Nerf cakes.  Bummer!  So went with the simple round cake with a target theme.
I used another dollar store pizza pan for the cake plate and glued it to a orange candlestick.  I just printed out the Nerf logo for the cake topper.

Gift bags - I went back to the dollar store, where I got the aluminum water bottle and put each boys name and target design on with vinyl (I love my silhouette)
I also found some small "fake nerf" guns at the dollar store to add to the goody bags.

Adam racked up on guns so Mark hung this peg board in the garage so we can have a place to organize and store them.  I LOVE it!
Happy Birthday Adam - It was a FUN one!

Colton Turns 2!

I say this every time my kids have a  birthday, but here it goes again…How did this happen?  Where has the time gone!?  I seriously cannot believe my baby just turned 2.  It seems like just yesterday he looked like this…

Happy Birthday Adam

My sweet little first born child just turned 9!  How did this happen?  It has just gone too fast and I want to go back in time and get those years back!  I cant imagine how I will feel when he turns 16.  Ok, lets move on before I start thinking about that too much.

To start the day off, we had a big family breakfast.  This may seem like no big deal.  But in our house mommy making breakfast is like a rare sighting of Bigfoot.  If you know me well then you know that I am NOT a morning person and I really like to sleep in…and I don’t like the smell of breakfast food in the morning too much (call me crazy!).  So I am ashamed to say that Adam is on his own most mornings for breakfast and he is the one to wake me up each morning…several times.  I know, it is horrible…but just “KIR”.  Adam LOVES a big breakfast so I knew this simple task that most people do everyday would make him feel special!  He was so excited.  I felt kind of bad and think I should do this more often.P1070255

As usual, Adam’s only request for his birthday was a family party at Gigi’s house.  I love how simple and sentimental he is!P1070264

Gigi's Annual Halloween/Birthday Extravaganza

We all look forward to my moms annual party to celebrate Halloween and her own birthday. :) She has been very busy lately and I was kind of worried that she would not have it this year. But OH NO...Gigi did not disappoint!

The boys LOVE the cob webs.

Candy Blood...EWWWWWW.

Cheese Fingers...EWWWWWW.

My cute little robot.

This picture is a CLASSIC and makes me laugh. Colton was not cooperating with all the pictures I wanted to take and I think Mark was starting to feel the same way.
I dont know why this picture is sideways. I cant get it to turn. But, isnt this the cutest costume! My sister Jenny made this for her new little baby (Levi).
Poppy with all his boys.
Crazy Elizabeth always comes ready to party.
Adam (Baseball) & Bentley (Football)
And...The birthday girl! Sorry about the blurry picture.
Oh, wait! I almost forgot our sweet Gracie. What would we do without our only little girl in the family?!

Birthday Party #8

OK! We have been snowed in for over a week and it just keeps coming down. Enough already!
Over the weekend, I tried to throw together a last minute birthday party for Adam. It just for family, so no pressure. It was a good thing because when I say thrown together I mean... thrown together, last minute, everything from the dollar store party. In the weeks leading up to Adams birthday I kept asking him if he wanted to have friends over for his birthday or do a big party, but he kept saying he just wanted family, no friends. Works for me. :)
This is really embarrassing and I cant believe I am even posting a picture, but these pitiful cupcakes were "thrown together" about an hour before the party. Seriously...looking back I am wondering why I didn't even attempt to make the icing pretty. Boys just don't care about stuff like that.
Goodie baskets "thrown together" from the dollar store. Whoopie cushions, balls, sour patch kids...you know, all the good junkie stuff.
Baby brother Colton got this book for Adam. He is thoughtful like that. ;)
Bentley & Adam blowing out the candles. notice Bentley's battle scar on his cheek. The boys were out sledding and Bentley slid into a tree. Ouch!

I saw this idea for doing thank you cards for kids. Obviously her pictures were really good and cute (not going to happen with my crappy camera). We tried the same idea and here are the results. Nice Smile Adam! Thanks Poppy & Gigi for the Mario game.
Thanks Bentley & Riley for he Nerf gun...Colton likes it too.
Uncle Matt, Bailey & Noah, Thanks for the GINORMOUS box with a gift 1/10 it size inside. Interesting.
The rest of you party goers can expect your thank you photo picture in the mail soon.
