Thanksgiving Recap

We had a great time in Ohio for Thanksgiving.  The weather was beautiful and it is the first time we have been there without snow on Thanksgiving.  We had fun visiting Mark’s family…

And we finally got to see Uncle Mike & Aunt Linda…we always seem to miss them when we visit.  And they  gave me the best gift EVER…More milk glass for my growing collection.  Thank you Mike and Linda!  I love each piece.

My Little Community Helper

L1020399

It was Community Helper Day at Colton’s pre school.  All the children were asked to dress up for a parade and a little party.  Colton was a fireman thanks to a hand-me-down costume from my sister.L1020401

When I fist got there he didn’t see me and it was so fun to just sit back and watch him.  I was shocked that he was actually walking in line with the other kids.  It was so cute.L1020402L1020412

He loved the party and especially the food!  His teachers told me he had been the only child trying to get into the food that morning before the party.  He had even stuck his finger in one of the cupcakes and so they kept saying that cupcake belonged to Colton.  Oh…that’s my Colton!

This picture makes me laugh…his head was a little too big for the hat, but he insisted on wearing it.  He was so hot and sweaty.L1020417

Easy Pumpkin Muffins

I LUUUV me some Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Muffins.  During the fall, I literally make a batch every week.  My boys love to eat them for breakfast, for after school snack and dessert after dinner.

I was “pinning” the other day and came across a 2 ingredient pumpkin cake recipe from Big Red Kitchen and then an adapted version from Sweet Verbena.  If you are on Pinterest, I am sure you have seen this muffins recipe all over.

I decided to change a few things and use a spice cake instead of yellow mix and added chocolate chips.  BTW - I like to use the mini CC for muffins.P1100070

THAT’S ALL!!!  No oil, no butter, no eggs or water.  Just these 3 ingredients.  It seemed a little weird and I was skeptical about how it would turn out.  I figured they would be a little dry or dense.P1100072

Ummmm…they were amazing!

P1100075

While nothing beats the taste of made from scratch, this version comes very close.  I think the only difference is a slight increase with the spice taste on this version, but not overpowering at all.

And you MUST head over to the Big Red Kitchen and check out some more incredible recipes like…

Pool of Butter Biscuits -  Crockpot Grinders - Jalapeno Popper Dip - Stuffed Buns

Or for another fun cake mix recipe…check out this one for 2 ingredient Lemon Bars from Practically Living.

Feeling Like Fall

Saturday was the PERFECT Fall day!  I met up with my mom, Uncle Tommy, Aunt Carrie, Liz & Gracie…out in the COUNTRY… for some free pinto beans and cornbread at Old Mill Primitives!  Oh, it was so fun and YUMMY!  We were on the hunt for some more Chalk Paint and old blue Mason Jars so I can make some of THESE.  I didn’t find any jars! Boo.  But we did all walk away with some Chalk Paint.Picnik collage1

Then the ENTIRE Brewer clan met up at Layman’s Farm for more Fall festivities. Fried Oreos, pumpkins, cow train rides, apples and CHAOS!  picnik 2

Pumpkin Patch 2010

It was a beautiful day on Saturday, so we decided to take advantage of the nice warm weather and head out to the Pumpkin Patch. We did not want to repeat the mistake we made last year.
Laymans Farm had stepped it up from last year and had this HUGE jumpy trampoline thing...not sure what they are actually called. But it was a hit. Colton was in heaven with plenty of space to roam.
No comment on the pumpkin below...but people were actually buying these shapes. Can you really even call that a pumpkin?

Adam & Bentley are happy to do anything...as long as they are together. dont they look like trouble?

This cute little building was like a sandbox only it had corn kernels instead of sand. Great idea!

The cow train is so cute and Colton loved it. Yes, I barely fit in this thing and Mark had to help me get out...embarassin!

So did Adam...

If we let him, I swear he would run away for 10 miles and never look back. SERIOUSLY!
To avoid this second mistake from last year, we remembered to wait and not buy pumpkins before coming to Layman's. Adam was so happy to get to pick out his own pumpkin just like everyone else!
All in all it was a fun day full of great memories! Nice weather makes all the difference. Oh, and if you live close by this is definitely the BEST pumpkin patch in the area...trust me, I have tried them all. But if you go, take lots of CASH, because they don't take credit cards and it is not cheap. My wallet felt like it had been to Disney Land!
